Econergy, one of the most active investors in the renewable energy sector in Romania, has obtained the connection approval for a new renewable energy project, according to public data. The company Eco Sun Niculești SRL obtained last month from Transelectrica the technical approval for connection (ATR) for a future photovoltaic park located in the town of Niclești in Dâmbovița County. The park has a designed capacity of 177 MW and will be connected to a new 220 kV substation connected to Transelectrica's Brazi Vest – Fundeni line.

The technical approval for connection was issued by Transelectrica on August 4, and the estimated date of commissioning of the park is the end of 2024.

Eco Sun Niculești, established two years ago, is fully owned by Econergy International Limited, according to Termene.ro data. The Israeli company is one of the largest investors in photovoltaic energy in Romania. The company is running 23 projects in our country, including through partnerships, with a total capacity of about 2,300 MW.

Econergy is building in Rătești, Argeș County, the largest solar park in the country now under construction, with a capacity of 153 MW, a project bought in 2021 from Portland Trust, in partnership with Nofar Energy from Israel. The total investment in the project was estimated, at the start of the project, at approximately €98 million.

The park should be operational in the next period - the construction is almost completed and, if there are no delays, it will be the largest photovoltaic park put into operation in Romania in 2023.

The company has started tenders for the construction of two other projects, one in Părău (92 MW) and Oradea (87 MW).
