PPC Group to add 88MW solar park in Bulgaria

Green Forum
PPC Group will expand its renewable energy portfolio in Bulgaria with the addition of a new 88MW solar park. The facility, under construction in central Bulgaria, is being developed by Chint Green Energy, a subsidiary of Chint Group, which also owns the solar panel manufacturer Astronergy.

Scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026, the solar park will be integrated into PPC's portfolio once it becomes operational.

Located in Vedrare village, Karlovo region, the solar farm is projected to generate 140GWh of electricity annually—enough to supply approximately 23,500 households—while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 70,000 tonnes each year.

The project will feature 18,500 bifacial panels from Astronergy, supported by 264 string inverters and 12 low- and medium-voltage power substations. The panels will be mounted on single-axis trackers equipped with active orientation and back-tracking algorithms to optimize energy output.

This project follows PPC Group's recent launch of a 165MWp solar park under development in Stara Zagora, central Bulgaria, accompanied by a 25MW / 55MWh energy storage facility nearby.

PPC Group also operates an 18MW wind farm in northern Bulgaria.
