The Bihor County Council has the status of an associate in ADI Ecoland, together with the municipalities of Săcueni and Diosig. The concession of the Săcueni station aims to ensure the good operation of the facility and the production of energy at maximum capacity.
A recent report drawn up by the European Commission attests that a quantity of 153 million tons/year of biodegradable waste (food) is generated at the level of the European Union, quantities increasing by approximately 8% every year. Member States have serious commitments to reduce the amounts generated and increase the amounts recycled.
The station will be integrated into the Integrated Waste Management System, managed by the Ecolect Group Intercommunity Development Agency. Thus, the raw material will be provided from biodegradable waste.
The estimated amount of raw material to be processed in the biogas station is 45,500 t/year (estimated – 21% biodegradable municipal waste, 23% agricultural waste, and 56% biodegradable waste from production processes).
Through the operating activity of the Săcueni Biogas Plant, the operator assumes the achievement of a production level of green energy from renewable sources of 2,500 Mwh/year.
"The concession of the biogas station brings benefits taking into account two aspects. A financial one, because the Bihor County Council has until now almost completely covered the activity through subsidies, while the revenues obtained were approximately 10% of this amount. The second aspect is of a technical nature because it is intended to use biodegradable waste as a raw material. In this way, the amount of biodegradable waste from the landfill will decrease. I thank my colleagues from the two town halls, Săcueni and Diosig, for supporting this initiative", said Călin Gal, vice president of the Bihor County Council.
The duration of the contract, which will be signed in mid-August, will be 10 years. For each contractual year, the delegate will pay ADI ECOLAND BIHOR a fee of RON500,000 (€100,000), excluding VAT.
The power plant owned by ADI Ecoland was built through a project financed with European funds, through the Sectoral Operational Program Increasing Economic Competitiveness 2007 - 2013. It was inaugurated in 2016 and cost RON23.6 million (€4.72 million).
