The project for new renewable energy production capacities, submitted by the Hunedoara County Council and the Petrila City Hall, has been approved for funding by the Ministry of Energy.

With a total value of approximately €2,732,380.20, the project will be implemented without any co-financing from local authorities. This initiative includes the construction of a 1.99 MW photovoltaic power plant in Petrila, which will become the largest solar park managed by a public institution in Hunedoara County. The energy generated will be utilized for the self-consumption of public institutions, resulting in substantial savings for the county budget.

The plant will provide electricity to the Hunedoara County Council, the Deva County Emergency Hospital, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Hunedoara, and the Petrila City Hall.

"This project marks a significant step toward energy independence for the county administration and a more efficient management of public resources. By harnessing solar energy, we not only reduce electricity costs but also actively contribute to environmental protection. The savings generated will enable us to redirect funds to other essential investments for Hunedoara County and its institutions. Additionally, this project places the Jiu Valley back on Romania's energy map, fostering new development opportunities and job creation in the region," stated Laurențiu Nistor, President of the Hunedoara County Council.

This investment in renewable energy reaffirms the county administration's commitment to a sustainable future through innovative and efficient solutions.
