Rețele Electrice launches tender for Constanta County energy upgrades

Green Forum
Rețele Electrice Muntenia, part of the PPC Group in Romania, has initiated a procurement procedure through the public procurement information system for the modernization of medium voltage networks in Valu lui Traian and Murfatlar, Constanta County. The tender is valued at €8.4 million, with Rețele Electrice Dobrogea being the beneficiary of the work.

"Investments in distribution networks are crucial to ensuring an energy future that meets today's electrification needs. The Valu lui Traian – Murfatlar project, funded by European funds, exemplifies the significant financial efforts required to modernize network sections to meet current consumption needs and withstand increasingly frequent extreme weather conditions. This area is rapidly developing both residentially and economically and has experienced the effects of climate change, including storms with wind speeds exceeding 130-140 km/h. To provide these communities with a secure and modern energy infrastructure, we are placing a portion of the network underground and upgrading the secondary substations on the poles by replacing them with those in concrete enclosures," stated Mihai Pește, general manager of Rețele Electrice companies.

The project involves modernizing a medium voltage line and other works to enhance the quality of the distribution service. The overhead line will be placed underground over 27.53 km, secondary substations will be upgraded and reconfigured, and new secondary substations will be built. Over 4,000 customers, including individuals and companies, will benefit from these improvements. The works will increase network reliability and facilitate the connection of new customers and increased consumption by existing ones.

The total project value is €10.5 million (VAT included), co-financed by the Modernization Fund with up to €6.9 million. The deadline for bid submission is June 26, 2024, and the project duration is 25 months from contract conclusion.
