Swedish company OX2 to develop four wind projects in Romania

Green Forum
The Swedish company OX2 has received technical connection permits for its entire portfolio of wind projects in Romania, with a combined installed capacity of 572 MW. Construction will start in the first part of 2024, with the aim for the wind farm to become operational by the end of 2025.

Currently, OX2 Romania is in discussions with investors to conclude its first transaction in Romania. The company obtained building permits at the end of last year for its most advanced project in the portfolio, with an installed capacity of 99 MW and a grid connection contract since March 2023.

The project is in an advanced stage, which includes equipment procurement and concluding a PPA, with the goal being to reach the final investment decision.

The company states that the second 99 MW project, located nearby, closely follows both in terms of development stage and reaching the FID phase, with both projects scheduled for construction and commissioning in the same timeframe.

For the other two wind projects in OX2 Romania's portfolio, totaling 300 MW and 72 MW, technical connection permits (ATRs) have been obtained from Transelectrica, with a grid connection planned for December 2027. Thus, all four onshore wind projects in OX2 Romania's portfolio, with a total installed capacity of 572 MW, currently hold technical connection permits from Transelectrica.
