2023 data shows there are over 110,000 prosumers in Romania

Romania had 110,355 prosumers by the end of 2023, with an installed capacity of 1,442 MW, according to data provided by the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority.

Last year, there were over 110,000 prosumers. Among them, 95,205 were individuals who collectively installed capacities totaling 611.45 MW. Additionally, over 15,000 companies installed capacities totaling 831.39 MW during the same period.

Ilfov was in 2023 the county with the most prosumers (8,536), with an installed capacity of 111 MW, followed by Timis, with 6,007 prosumers with installed capacity of 81.89 MW, Bihor, with 4,368 prosumers with 55.76 MW, Arad with 4,323 prosumers with 49.56 MW, Dolj with 4,312 prosumers and 53.52 MW and Arges with 4,010 prosumers of 53.57 MW.

Botosani (1,330 prosumers), Caras-Severin (1,083 prosumers), and Braila (993 prosumers) are the countries with the fewest prosumers.

Global law firm Dentons has advised OX2 on acquiring three wind power projects totaling 235 MW in Romania from Future Power. The projects, located in Vaslui and Vrancea counties, are expected to be commissioned between 2028 and 2030, subject to permitting.
