Danone Romania invests €1 million in solar energy at Bucharest yogurt factory

Danone Romania has completed an investment of €1 million in the acquisition and installation of photovoltaic panels, which will provide 20% of the electricity consumption of the factory in Bucharest.

The dairy producer has put into operation 2,350 photovoltaic panels on the roof and in the backyard of the yogurt factory in the Colentina district, which will provide a total power of 1,280 KWP and will supply 1,473 MWh per year, equivalent to 20% of the total electricity consumed.

On sunny summer days, green energy production covers the entire electricity consumption of the factory during the day.

"At our factory in Bucharest, where over 150 employees work, we produce and distribute 1 million yogurts daily to Romanian consumers, as well as to 13 other European markets. Our commitment to consumers reaches a new level, always through environmental care. The investment of 1 million euros in implementing the photovoltaic energy system ensures 100% green energy for the factory's consumption in summer days and 20% in winter," said Bogdan Joita, Director of Danone Romania Factory.

The last investment in the Bucharest factory was completed at the beginning of 2022 when the company invested €4 million in a new packaging line where Danone drinking yogurts are packaged in a new type of plant-based packaging.
