Hungarian renewable energy plants get another deadline extension

The President of the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (MEKH) has issued a decree extending the deadline for the implementation of power plants under preparation to receive renewable energy production subsidies.

In the past, MEKH has repeatedly decided to extend the implementation deadline for power plant units eligible for compulsory take-over and green premium support without a tender.

According to the MEKH decree, the implementation deadline for power plant units with mandatory take-over under Government Decree 389/2007 (XII. 23.) is linked to the eligibility for support:

  • 30 June 2023 for deadlines expiring between 1 July 2021 and 31 December 2021,
  • 31 December 2023 for deadlines expiring between 1 January 2022 and 1 January 2023.
  • The deadlines for the implementation of power plant units eligible for mandatory take-over or green premium support without a call for tenders under Government Decree No 299/2017 (X. 17.), which expire between 1 July 2021 and 31 January 2022, are extended until 30 June 2023.
