Once operational, the facility—consisting of two units—is expected to deliver approximately 7,500 GWh of electricity per year to the national grid.
The signing ceremony was attended by official representatives from the Embassies of Turkey and Italy, as well as government officials. In his keynote address, Energy Minister Csaba Lantos emphasized the Hungarian state's commitment to advancing the domestic energy sector and supporting green and sustainable solutions.
“The construction of this new power plant is of historic importance, as it will be the first new baseload facility built in Hungary in over fifteen years. It is a critical step in strengthening our energy independence, increasing supply security, and achieving our climate targets. The plant will also help balance renewable power generation and thus contribute to a successful energy transition.
