Vestas acquires LM wind power's Polish blade factory

Green Forum
Vestas and LM Wind Power have reached an agreement through which LM Wind Power's blade manufacturing facility in Goleniów, near Szczecin, Poland, will be integrated into Vestas's expanding European production network.

Financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed. The factory, which currently produces blades for Vestas's onshore wind projects, will continue its essential role in meeting increasing energy demands across Poland and the European Union.

Anders Nielsen, Chief Technology and Operations Officer at Vestas, commented: "Europe now more than ever requires secure, affordable, and sustainable energy. Expanding our European manufacturing capabilities supports the growing significance of wind energy in Europe's energy landscape. We appreciate LM Wind Power's longstanding cooperation and are delighted that our aligned strategic objectives allow this facility to support Vestas's continued growth in Europe."

Hanif Mashal, CEO of LM Wind Power, remarked: "This proposed transaction represents a strategic decision for LM Wind Power and GE Vernova, enabling us to streamline operations and reinvest in core EU manufacturing facilities dedicated to GE Vernova wind products. We value our collaboration with Vestas in transferring ownership of this facility, previously dedicated exclusively to their projects, and will closely cooperate to ensure a seamless transition."

Established in 2009 and expanded in 2017, the factory will persist in manufacturing blades, including for the V172-7.2MW turbines. The completion of the transaction is contingent upon obtaining regulatory approvals. Vestas, a global leader in designing, producing, installing, and servicing wind turbines, has installed over 190GW of wind energy capacity across 88 countries worldwide.
