L'Oréal hits 100% renewable energy in Europe

Green Forum
L'Oréal has announced that, as of December 2024, all its European operations—including factories, offices, and distribution centers—are now powered entirely by renewable energy.

This milestone brings the company closer to its “L'Oréal for the Future” sustainability goals, which include achieving carbon neutrality and 100% renewable energy use at all sites worldwide by 2025.

“This accomplishment follows a year of strong progress, with 98% of our energy in Europe sourced from renewable sources throughout 2024. It is a testament to the hard work and vision of our teams. We're excited to continue pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry. Together, we can make a real difference!”, said Vianney Derville, President of L'Oréal's Europe Zone, highlighted the progress.

As reported in its latest sustainability update, 83% of L'Oréal's global sites were operating on renewable energy by the end of 2023, a sharp increase from 34% in 2019. Europe plays a key role in the company's global footprint, hosting 19 of its 38 factories, including 11 located in France.

This achievement builds on L'Oréal's earlier success in reaching full renewable energy use across its South Asia Pacific, Middle East, and North Africa (SAPMENA) Zone.
