OMV Petrom integrates sustainability into annual report

OMV Petrom announced that starting this year, its sustainability reporting will be integrated into the company's Annual Report. This step reflects the company's commitment to transparency and responsible business practices, in line with its 2030 Strategy – which outlines the company's transformation path toward a low-carbon future.

The Sustainability Statement, included in the 2024 Annual Report, is prepared in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and provides detailed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information.

“We are making significant progress in implementing our 2030 Strategy, which positions us as a leader in the energy transition in the region. Through a balanced mix of investments in low-carbon solutions alongside the responsible development of traditional activities, we aim to create long-term value for all stakeholders – from shareholders and employees to partners, customers, and communities,” said Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom.

Key achievements in 2024:

  • ~16 billion RON contributions to the state budget through taxes and dividends, highlighting OMV Petrom's significant economic role.
  • 30% of 2024 investments are eligible and aligned with the EU Taxonomy, reflecting the company's commitment to sustainable investments.
  • A portfolio of photovoltaic and wind projects totaling 2.4 GW, the result of strategic acquisitions and partnerships.
  • 900 electric vehicle charging points, supporting the nationwide expansion of electric mobility infrastructure.
  • Approval of the €750 million strategic investment in the new SAF/HVO unit at Petrobrazi, which will produce sustainable aviation fuel and diesel from renewable sources.
  • 17% reduction in Scope 1-2 emissions compared to 2019 levels.
  • 11% reduction in Scope 1-3 emissions compared to 2019.
  • 80% reduction in methane emissions from Exploration and Production activities compared to 2019.
  • 131 million RON invested in social programs, supporting national and local initiatives in education, health, and the environment, with a positive impact on local communities.
  • 32% share of women in management positions, reflecting OMV Petrom's commitment to diversity and equal opportunities
