ABB's Smart Buildings Division has announced a strategic collaboration with the World Green Building Council's (WorldGBC) European Regional Network (ERN) to accelerate sustainable and energy-efficient building practices across Europe.

As a newly appointed Regional Knowledge Partner, ABB will leverage its expertise in electrical and automation technologies to support the development of low-carbon, energy-efficient buildings aligned with Europe's sustainability goals. This partnership also enables ABB to collaborate with industry leaders, fostering innovative solutions for customers in the built environment.

The World Green Building Council plays a pivotal role in driving sustainability in the built environment, working with governments, businesses, and organizations to achieve systemic change globally. Through its European Regional Network, comprising over 20 Green Building Councils and nearly 5,000 members, WorldGBC serves as a catalyst for reducing the environmental footprint of buildings throughout their lifecycle.

“With buildings accounting for around 30% of final energy consumption and 26% of global greenhouse gas emissions, the potential for impact is significant,” said Mike Mustapha, President of ABB Electrification's Smart Buildings Division. “Partnering with the World Green Building Council's European network aligns perfectly with ABB's mission to share expertise and collaborate with organizations committed to a sustainable, low-carbon future. Together, we can advance smarter, more energy-efficient buildings across Europe while fostering resilient and inclusive communities.”

Laura Pallares, Head of the Europe Regional Network at WorldGBC, shared her enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to welcome ABB as a regional member. The path to net zero depends on partnerships with organizations that share a common vision. With our shared commitment to electrifying the built environment and advancing sustainability, the opportunities for progress are limitless.”

ABB's cutting-edge automation and energy management solutions optimize energy use, integrate renewable sources, and enhance building intelligence. These technologies empower customers to address emerging challenges effectively while providing a more personalized, comfortable, and sustainable living and working experience.
