The Hunedoara County Council is purchasing electric minibusses for the county's students, an investment that amounts to about €6 million. The Hunedoara County Council approved, in an extraordinary meeting, the submission of the project funded by PNRR for the purchase of electric minibusses for students from 23 Hunedoara municipalities. 43 communes were declared eligible, but the Hunedoara County Council had to choose, following prioritization criteria, 23 of them.

The investments financed under the project aimed at the transport of students from isolated localities, especially in rural areas.

"During the extraordinary meeting of the Hunedoara County Council, we approved the submission of the project "Green transport - Electric minibuses for students in Hunedoara County", within the call for projects financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Component C15 - Education. The value of the project, which aims to purchase electric school minibuses for 23 town halls in the countryside, amounts to approximately €6 million. Improving transportation conditions for students in Hunedoara County is among our immediate concerns. Now, we have the opportunity to access funds for the purchase of electric minibuses and create a green transport network for students commuting to school. By submitting the project, in which Hunedoara County Council is the leader, the first tranche of minibuses will be provided. We hope that through the next calls for projects we will provide all the necessary minibuses requested by the municipalities", declared the president of the Hnedoara Regional Council, Laurențiu Nistor.

The total value of the project "Green transport - Electric minibuses for students in Hunedoara County" is RON30.19 million (€6 million), without VAT, respectively RON35.93 million (€7.18 million), with VAT. Almost all the money comes through PNRR, the ineligible value of the project being only RON25,750 (€5,150), excluding VAT.

"The beneficiary administrative-territorial units have delegated the right to submit financial applications to the Hunedoara county UAT, based on local council decisions, based on local autonomy, according to the Financing Guide. The implementation period of the project ends after the completion of all purchases, receptions and commissioning of the electric minibuses, according to the provisions of the purchase contracts, which cannot exceed the date of 31.12.2024", the specialized report of the project of the Hunedoara County Council states.

Only 16-seater electric school minibuses will be financed, for a fair distribution of electric minibuses on the territory of Hunedoara County.
