Van Oord secures Polish offshore wind contract

Green Forum
Van Oord has been awarded a contract for subsea rock installation on the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms in Poland. The contract, with an undisclosed value, covers the procurement, transportation, and installation of seabed protection around wind turbine foundations, offshore substations, and along inter-array and export cable routes connecting the wind farms to the Polish power grid.

Developed jointly by Equinor and Polenergia, the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms will have a combined capacity of 1.44 GW. The two companies are also working on a third offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea, aiming for a total capacity of up to 3 GW, which could supply electricity to four million Polish households. The first energy from Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 is expected to enter the grid in 2027, with full commercial operations beginning in 2028.

The wind farms will be located approximately 22 km and 37 km from the port of Łeba, with multiple contractors already engaged in the development.

This contract further expands Van Oord's presence in Poland's offshore wind sector, adding to its existing commitments, which include monopile installation work for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 project, developed by Ørsted and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, as well as the 1.2 GW Baltic Power project, led by ORLEN and Northland Power.
