SPIE unveils ECONTROLplus for renewable energy in Poland

Green Forum
SPIE Energotest, a Polish subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has developed an innovative ECONTROLplus system that enables comprehensive management and optimisation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) installations, increasing their efficiency and reliability. SPIE Energotest is currently implementing this system for a key partner, the PVE Group (Pro Vento Energia), a project that involves integrating 30 photovoltaic farms into a central management platform.

The ECONTROLplus modular software platform collects and processes detailed information on the status of RES installations and additional indicators, allowing owners to accurately monitor efficiency and manage energy production operations.

The power guard module and the ability to remotely control the source and even shut it down makes it possible to reduce costs and maximise profits from energy production. The built-in maintenance module (accessible from mobile devices) allows the technical condition of the equipment to be monitored and facilitates both maintenance and the rapid repair of installation failures, increasing reliability and longevity, and improving its economic efficiency.

The ECONTROLplus system is one of the most innovative products on the Polish market for the comprehensive management of multiple distributed energy sources. It has a number of functionalities that enable systematic and comprehensive development of the RES business.

“We are proud that our system is being implemented at one of our key clients and partners, the PVE Group, a leader in the development and implementation of renewable energy production sites (photovoltaic farms, wind farms, energy storage facilities) in Poland”, says Michał Zając, Director of the Systems and Automation Division at SPIE Energotest.

SPIE Energotest is currently implementing a centralised, superior management system for renewable energy installations for the PVE Group. In the first two phases, SPIE will integrate 30 photovoltaic (PV) farms into the ECONTROLplus system.

SPIE is carrying out this task comprehensively:

development of a concept and preparation of design documentation;
prefabrication and commissioning of 36 telemechanics cabinets, based on devices on the PTPiREE (Polish Power Transmission and Distribution Association) white list, compliant with European regulations NC RfG codes (Network Code on Requirements for Generators);
inclusion of the above-mentioned PV farms in the centralised, superior management system – ECONTROLplus.

Etem Gestamp signs cross-border wind power deal with Rezolv

Etem Gestamp, the Sofia-based joint venture between Viohalco Group and Spain's Gestamp Group focused on aluminium extrusion and processing for the automotive industry, and Rezolv Energy, the Actis-backed independent power producer, have signed a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in Bulgaria. The VPPA will see Etem Gestamp buy electricity from Rezolv Energy's 461MW 'Vifor' wind farm, which is about to come onstream in Buzău County, Romania. It is the first cross-border wind PPA that has been publicly announced in Bulgaria.
