MORE and PPC Renewables launch 882 MW solar projects

Green Forum
MORE, a subsidiary of the Motor Oil Group, together with PPC Renewables, wholly owned by the PPC Group, has included eight new photovoltaic power plants—totaling 882.4 MW—in their renewable energy development portfolio.

These projects have reached a significant milestone, having secured the Final Grid Connection Offer, which paves the way for the next stages in the permitting process, the companies announced.

The development plan includes six solar parks with a total installed capacity of 742.4 MW in the Kozani region, a 92 MW park in Kilkis, and another 48 MW park in Serres. Out of the total, joint projects with a combined capacity of 300 MW have already received grid connection offers, while others totaling 311 MW are expected to follow soon.

The electricity produced will serve both the industrial sector—through bilateral power purchase agreements (PPAs)—and the agricultural sector, by supporting farmers enrolled in the “GAIA” program. This initiative offers preferential electricity tariffs to encourage investment and activity in agriculture.

Importantly, the solar projects in Kozani are separate from PPC Group's ongoing 2,130 MW photovoltaic developments in Western Macedonia, which are located on former lignite mining sites.
