Romania's Ministry of Energy relaunches two calls for batteries and PV panels

Green Forum
The Ministry of Energy announced the relaunch of the project call "Support for investments in developing electric energy storage capacities (batteries)" related to Investment 4 of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) - Industrial production and/or assembly and/or recycling chain of batteries, cells, and photovoltaic panels (including auxiliary equipment), as well as new electric energy storage capacities, Sub-measure 4.3 - Support for investments in developing electric energy storage capacities (batteries).

The objective of the project call is to put into operation a capacity of at least 240 MW (or 480 MWh) of electric energy storage in batteries by June 30, 2026, contributing to achieving the objectives assumed by Romania within the NRRP, following a project call with selection criteria ensuring compliance with the "not significantly prejudicing" technical guide (2021/C58/01).

Eligible are the acquisition of facilities/equipment for building new electric energy storage capacities in batteries and the constructions that are the subject of the battery electric energy storage project.

The total budget for the scheme is the lei equivalent of €79,600,000, European funds provided through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism within the NRRP, investment I4.

Micro-enterprises, small, medium, and large enterprises that have activities related to the production and commercialization of electric energy corresponding to division 35: "Production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, hot water, and air conditioning" from the CAEN rev. 2 classification or equivalent may apply.

The second call refers to projects to support investments in the construction of new production, assembly, and recycling capacities of batteries and to support investments in the construction of new production, assembly, and recycling capacities of cells and photovoltaic panels related to Investment 4 - Industrial production and/or assembly and/or recycling chain of batteries, cells, and photovoltaic panels (including auxiliary equipment), as well as new electric energy storage capacities, Sub-measure 4.1 Support for investments in the entire value chain of batteries (production and/or assembly and recycling) and Sub-measure 4.2 Support for investments in the entire value chain of cells and photovoltaic panels (production and/or assembly and recycling).

The total budget for the project call is the lei equivalent of €199,000,000, European funds provided through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism within the NRRP, investment I4, broken down as construction of new production and/or assembly and recycling capacities of batteries: €149,250,000 and construction of new production and/or assembly and recycling capacities of cells and photovoltaic panels including recycling: €49,750,000.
