Iberdrola secures 1,000 GWh PPA with Pam Panorama

Green Forum
Iberdrola has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pam Panorama, a long-established Italian hypermarket and supermarket chain, for a total of 1,000 GWh.

Under the agreement, Pam, Panorama, Pam Local, and Pam City outlets across Italy will be powered by photovoltaic energy. This partnership enhances competitiveness and accelerates electrification, cutting annual CO2 emissions by over 38,300 tonnes—the equivalent of the energy needs of 40,300 households.

By 2025, Iberdrola expects to have around 400 MW of installed capacity in Italy, with the upcoming launch of its third operational plant and the completion of four additional photovoltaic projects.

For the second year in a row, Iberdrola has been recognized as the leader in the European PPA market, according to the Pexapark Renewables Market Outlook 2025 report, with 1,251 MW contracted—38% more than in 2023.

Iberdrola España has announced 15 PPA agreements in Europe, including contracts with Amazon for wind and solar projects in Spain, Portugal, and the UK, as well as agreements with Italian companies such as BTicino, Acciaierie Venete, Prima Sole Components, and Bayer, totaling approximately 50 MW.

As Europe's most valuable electricity company by market capitalization, Iberdrola has also strengthened its partnerships with major corporations like Microsoft, Meta, Salzgitter, Mercedes-Benz, and Vodafone. These agreements reinforce the role of PPAs as a key tool for industrial electrification, providing long-term access to renewable energy at stable and predictable prices.
