Over 46% of homeowners consider energy-efficient heating upgrades

Green Forum
Over 46% of homeowners are considering upgrading their heating systems to more energy-efficient ones, while close to 77% are contemplating investing in renewable energy sources like solar panels and heat pumps, as per a study conducted for the despre-energie.ro platform, a collaboration between E.ON and Delgaz Grid.

In response to the question "What additional measures would you take to enhance your home's energy efficiency?" the majority of Romanians (46.3%) are considering switching to more efficient heating systems, 35.7% are planning to thermally insulate their walls, around 22% are eyeing the replacement of old windows, and 25.5% are thinking of installing heat recovery ventilation systems.

The research reveals that 45.3% of respondents have subjected their homes to an energy audit, providing them with crucial insights into energy usage and loss. Interestingly, 74.4% of those who have undergone such audits reside in urban areas, contrasting with only 25.5% in rural regions.

Additionally, nearly 77% of respondents are contemplating investments in renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and heat pumps. However, various constraints like housing limitations (cited by 25.8% of respondents) and financial constraints (29.3%) are hindering many households from leaping. Those who have already invested in such technologies generally have moderate to high incomes and a higher level of education.

Energy efficiency has emerged as a top priority for many households, with 80% of Romanians reporting investments in thermal insulation projects aimed at reducing energy consumption and environmental impact.

The despre-energie. ro platform, a joint initiative by E.ON and Delgaz Grid, aims to be a leading source of information and education for electricity and gas consumers, providing clear and accessible insights into relevant developments in the energy market.

The sociological research, conducted by Sondaje Marketing Relaţii Publice SRL for despre-energie. ro, involved 1,053 online users from January 10th to 18th, 2024, with a margin of error of +/-3%, considered representative of Romania's adult population.
