Tauron boosts renewable energy capacity in Poland

Green Forum
Polish energy company Tauron Polska Energia SA has recently commissioned its 58.5 MW wind farm in Mierzyn, West Pomeranian province.

Equipped with 15 turbines, each generating 3.9 MW, the wind farm is projected to produce 160 GWh of clean energy annually. This output is sufficient to power 68,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 140,000 tonnes per year. Construction on the project commenced in March 2023.

With the addition of this 12th wind farm, Tauron's onshore wind capacity has expanded to 506 MW, according to Michał Orłowski, Vice President of the Management Board.

Tauron's ambitious renewable energy plans extend beyond wind power. The company is set to inaugurate two more wind farms by the end of 2024: Warblewo (30 MW) and Gamow (33 MW). Additionally, three onshore wind projects are currently under construction: Miejska Gorka (190 MW), Sieradz (24 MW), and Nowa Brzeznica (20 MW).
