Poland relaxes wind farm rules

Green Forum
The Polish Council of Ministers has approved a draft law on wind energy that reduces the minimum required distance between wind turbines and residential buildings from 700 to 500 meters. The measure is part of a broader effort to lower electricity prices.

The government emphasized the need to expand wind energy capacity, highlighting wind power as one of the most affordable renewable energy sources. Given the current geopolitical context and Poland's aim to strengthen its energy independence from Russia, the country is seeking stable and diversified sources of energy.

According to the draft law, the reduced distance will help unlock the potential of wind energy projects. However, each project will still require approval from the local municipal council and must align with the spatial development plan.
