Alina Oprea
The mayors of 16 communes in Dâmbovița County signed 17 financing contracts through which they will modernize the public lighting system in their localities. These are investments that, in total, have a value of approximately RON 18 million (€3.6 million). The signing of the contracts was attended by Corneliu Ștefan, the president of the Dâmbovița County Council, announcing that, together with the president of the Environment Fund Administration, Laurențiu Neculaescu, the vice-president of the Dâmbovița County Council, Luciana Cristea, and the prefect of the county, Claudia Gilia.

Also, in May, another 14 municipalities signed financing contracts for the improvement of public lighting and the energy efficiency of some educational units worth RON 21 million (€4.2 million).

In a few months, only through the AFM programs, 30 municipalities accessed approximately RON 39 million (€7.8 million).

"The optimization of public lighting is an aspect that will lead to the reduction of the direct expenses of public administrations in our county. Also, modern public lighting equates to the rational use of electricity, reducing the cost of investments and the annual operating expenses of electrical lighting installations. Besides the economic factor, much more important, I think, is the social factor!", says Corneliu Ștefan, president of the Dâmbovița County Council.

The realization of appropriate lighting will increase the safety of pedestrian and road traffic, as well as the avoidance of acts of vandalism.

"All this will contribute to increasing the quality of life in Dâmbovița County", he adds.
