Greenvolt set to install 110 MW of renewable energy capacity in Romania

Green Forum
Greenvolt Group, a prominent international player in the renewable energy sector employing various technologies, has made its debut in the Romanian market within the Distributed Generation segment.

This strategic move marks the Group's expansion into Romania, its 10th country following Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Poland, Ireland, UK, and Germany in its European-level expansion plan. The decision underscores the pivotal role anticipated for distributed generation solutions in Romania's energy transition. Distributed generation has been a cornerstone of Greenvolt Group's strategy since its inception, and amidst current geopolitical dynamics, it has gained further significance. The focus on reducing electricity costs and volatility has become paramount, and this trend is expected to persist in the years ahead.

Joao Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, emphasized the launch of Greenvolt Next Romania as a natural progression in the Group's pan-European self-consumption platform. Leveraging its experience in wind and solar utility-scale projects in Romania, the Group recognizes the country's substantial potential for renewable energy solutions. With ambitious deployment targets, Romania stands poised to lead the decentralized energy revolution.

Greenvolt Next in Romania introduces a novel approach to electricity generation and consumption, particularly through solar panel utilization. By involving businesses centrally in the energy transition, the company aims to enhance energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. Specializing in tailored solutions for photovoltaic systems, energy efficiency enhancements, solar storage, and electric mobility, Greenvolt Next promises significant benefits for end-users.

Through innovative models like the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Greenvolt Next enables businesses to adopt photovoltaic panels without upfront investments while ensuring a steady supply of renewable energy at competitive rates.

Over the next three years, the company pledges to install 110MW of renewable energy in the Distributed Generation segment, amounting to a total investment of 27 million euros. This initiative is expected to create 100 direct and indirect job opportunities.

Filipe Dias, Country Manager of Greenvolt Next Romania, highlighted the company's focus on constructing photovoltaic plants using the innovative Power Purchase Agreement model. This approach ensures a sustainable energy supply at favorable economic terms, alleviating concerns regarding investment, management, and maintenance of solar plants while providing energy at stable prices independent of market fluctuations.

Greenvolt Group initially entered Romania in 2021 through Greenvolt Power, concentrating on Utility Scale Wind, Solar, and Energy Storage projects. With significant projects in the pipeline and active battery development globally, Greenvolt Power stands as a key player in the European market, having secured major projects such as winning the Polish capacity auction and being awarded capacity for six Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects totaling 1.2GW.
