35 tons of oil leaks into the Danube in Serbia

35 tons of oil products leaked from a ship under the Bulgarian flag on the main course of the Danube, near Cělarevo (Serbia), at km 1287. This information was received by the Ministry of the Environment, Waters and Forests, and the National Administration "Romanian Waters" - Department of Emergency Situations, through the secretary for border waters within the Romania-Serbia bilateral agreement, in the afternoon of June 20.

Eurelectric presents scenarios for Europe to reach net-zero carbon target

Romania reduces fossil gas consumption by 25%

Between August 2022 and January 2023, Romania is managing to reduce fossil gas consumption by approximately 25%, according to a report published by CEE Bankwatch Network. According to the report, Romania allocates four times more European funds for fossil gas, despite the climate objectives. Between 2014 and 2020, fossil gas-based projects in Romania and Poland benefited from €230 million and €1.3 billion respectively from European funds.

Etem Gestamp signs cross-border wind power deal with Rezolv

Etem Gestamp, the Sofia-based joint venture between Viohalco Group and Spain's Gestamp Group focused on aluminium extrusion and processing for the automotive industry, and Rezolv Energy, the Actis-backed independent power producer, have signed a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in Bulgaria. The VPPA will see Etem Gestamp buy electricity from Rezolv Energy's 461MW 'Vifor' wind farm, which is about to come onstream in Buzău County, Romania. It is the first cross-border wind PPA that has been publicly announced in Bulgaria.
