Alina Oprea
The Carmistin Group invested €8 million in a poultry farm in the town of Potcoava in Olt County. It is the first farm of the Group to benefit from a power plant that uses biomass to heat the halls. Also, for electricity consumption, the project was provided with photovoltaic panels mounted on the roofs of the halls, which will considerably reduce the operational cost. The new production unit will be integrated into the future poultry breeding platform that the company is developing in the area, in addition to those owned in Vâlcea and Târgu Jiu. The Horse Farm incorporates the most up-to-date technological facilities, developed by Carmistin through a partnership with suppliers from Germany and Belgium.

For ventilation, the 33 sheds on the farm operate on the basis of an ultramodern technological system, so-called fans with continuous magnet motors are used. This will increase energy efficiency by around 50% compared to a conventional ventilation system.

At the same time, the Potcoava farm represents a pilot project in terms of research and development for what the national poultry breeding industry means, but also a benchmark for education and professional training for the sector.

"With the inauguration of this farm, our company is starting a series of internships for the future generation of agribusiness workers. Our new employees will have the opportunity to work using the most current technologies in the field, which have in the foreground the green energy component and a new animal welfare model. This is an aspect of particular importance for us, for our business philosophy", stated Andrei Brumaru, Carmistin CEO.

The chicken division ensures a turnover that represents about 60% of Carmistin's business.

Regarding the social component, for the new platform that it is developing in Olt County, the company has created, in the first stage, more than 80 new jobs, recruiting staff mainly from rural areas.

The Carmistin Group is among the first food producers in Romania. The group includes over 20 companies active in the production of poultry meat and eggs, raising pigs, raising cattle, but also in the production of cereals, within Carmistin being currently integrated farmers with over 10,000 hectares of cultivated land, of which over 30% represent agriculture BIO.

Carmistin's objective is to become the largest producer of animal protein in Romania.
