Romania to introduce law on biomass and renewable energy produced on the Black Sea

Alina Oprea
The law on biomass and the law on renewable energies that can be produced on the Black Sea are being worked on in the Senate, says Radu Oprea, the leader of the PSD Parliamentary Group and member of the Committee for Energy, Energy Infrastructure and Mineral Resources in the Senate. He says that we need renewable energies, and another program that will be launched in the next period and that is being worked on now is the IMM Prosumer program, for small and medium enterprises.

"We are working in the Senate on the law on biomass, because it is another source of renewable energy that is not used to the capacity it can develop in Romania. We are also working on the law on renewable energies that can be produced on the Black Sea, offshore wind. There are projects where we try to come up with the best legislation, so that companies can develop, those that are in this field. On the other hand, we need renewable energies that reach very close to the capacity of production, to get close to the companies you represent, because we often forget that the sea is made of drops - and that photovoltaic panels, which can also be placed by small and medium-sized enterprises, can be an opportunity", said Radu Oprea, on Wednesday, 15th February, within an event.

At the same time, he specified that work is being done on the IMM Prosumer program, which could become operational in the next period.

"It is a program we are working on - IMM Prosumer and which I hope will become operational in a short time, when it will be approved by the Coalition that governs Romania today. The circular economy is another part of this whole, when we are talking about sustainability. And progress is being made here - you know very well the program that was launched by the Ministry of Economy as a state aid scheme for the Circular Economy", Radu Oprea also said.

Regarding the CSRD Directive, the normative act on the reporting of non-financial information, Radu Oprea specified that it brings a transformation both for shareholders and for the management of companies.

"This Directive, from my point of view, as a social democrat, brings a transformation both for shareholders and for company management. Why? Because we are talking about sustainability and we are talking about the fact that not only the quarterly reporting of profit and dividends is important, but also the future, the plans that companies can make in the long term. You know there's been this pretty strong transformation inside companies but, considering the idea of having a clean environment and being less harmful things are changing for the planet we live in. I think that Europe, which is the leader today, is taking the most important steps, but these steps must be taken with discernment, because the danger of not being competitive in Europe is always on the side of balance with the need to become a sustainable economy. We strongly support, as a social democratic party, this development of the sustainable economy of renewable energies throughout the legislation", added Radu Oprea.
