Renalfa acquires PV project in Romania

Green Forum
Renalfa IPP, an independent energy developer and producer based in Vienna, has acquired a 258 MWac photovoltaic (PV) project located in Teleorman, Romania.

"This acquisition is in line with Renalfa IPP's strategic goal to develop sustainable energy solutions in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The project also represents a significant step in expanding Romania's renewable energy portfolio," the company stated.

The project is expected to begin commercial operation in 2027. In addition to the PV capacity, Renalfa IPP plans to integrate 1000 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity into the project as part of its future development. This energy storage will improve grid stability, optimize renewable energy usage, and help accelerate the transition to a resilient and sustainable energy system.

Renalfa IPP is an independent energy developer and producer based in Vienna, established as a joint venture between Renalfa Solarpro Group GmbH and the French infrastructure investment fund RGREEN INVEST. The company develops and owns PV, BESS, and wind projects with a total capacity of around 2 GW across Bulgaria, Hungary, North Macedonia, and Romania, including approximately 300 MW already operational, 460 MW under construction, and 1 GW in advanced development.
