Under this agreement, MVM will acquire E.ON's 68% stake in E.ON Energie Romania and its 98% stake in E.ON Asist Complet.

The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals, is anticipated to close in the first half of 2025.

“This marks a significant step in MVM's regional growth strategy,” said Károly Mátrai, CEO of MVM Group. “Through this acquisition, MVM will reinforce its presence in Central and Eastern Europe while maintaining a commitment to delivering top-quality services to our Romanian customers. We aim to collaborate with the management of our future company to identify and leverage new synergies that will drive advancements in the Romanian energy market. I am thrilled to join forces with our Romanian colleagues and confident in our shared ability to shape a successful future together.”

Marc Spieker, Chief Operating Officer – Commercial at E.ON SE, expressed his gratitude: “I want to sincerely thank our employees in Romania for their outstanding contributions so far. E.ON continuously evaluates its portfolio to align with its strategic priorities of sustainability, digitization, and growth. Today's announcement follows a thorough analysis of the evolving energy sector and its implications for E.ON's operations. This transaction enables E.ON to focus on its core strategic objectives, supporting its ambition to lead the European energy transition.”
