According to the centralized data until February 2023 inclusive, Romania reached 27,590 electric vehicles, after as many electric cars were registered last year as in the last 10 years combined. On the other hand, in the territory of Romania, the threshold of 3,300 public chargers has barely been exceeded, according to the PlugShare portal.

In the first two months of 2023, a total of 2,247 electric vehicles were registered, of which 35 LCVs, an analysis shows. LEKTRI.CO, one of the most important players in the field of electric mobility in Romania, presents the e-mobility index for the first two months of the current year, along with a retrospective on 2022.

The month of January, with 1,132 EVs, registered an increase of 80% compared to the same period of the previous year, and the month of February marked an evolution of 108%, compared to last year, with 1,115 registered units. The Dacia Spring model still remained on the podium, with 1,057 units registered (497 in January and 560 in February). In the high-end segment, where Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche models are accounted for, a cumulative 190 units were registered in the two months. At the same time, as far as the charging infrastructure is concerned, at the end of February, there were 3,389 public chargers in Romania, without restrictions (of which 857 CCS/CHAdeMO and 2,492 Type 2), distributed in 1,503 locations.

"Last year's extraordinary results prove to us that Romanians are increasingly open to e-mobility and, relying on the upward trends, we expect 2023 to be at least as productive a period for the electric vehicle market. We are currently enjoying a promising start to the year and, through our field of activity, we are focusing all our efforts on bringing added value to this segment on a local level", said Claudiu Suma, CEO of LEKTRI.CO.

Regarding last year's results, the electric vehicle market in Romania exceeded the threshold of 25,000 registered units, ticking off the estimates made by LEKTRI.CO in the fall, the number of EVs registered in 2022 equaling the total number made in the previous 10 years. Dacia Spring had a market share of 55%, the volume of units registered by this model equaling the total number of electric vehicles registered in 2021. Moreover, in December it was the most registered new car, regardless of the engine (EV or ICE ). In second place in the ranking of EV registrations in 2022 is Tesla.

LEKTRI.CO offers electric car charging solutions for home users, companies that want to implement charging stations for employees, and the HORECA and retail fields. LEKTRI.CO charging stations are used in Romania, Serbia, Poland, Germany, France, and Italy.
