Poland reforms onshore wind regulations

Green Forum
The Polish government has submitted to parliament a long-awaited draft amendment to the legislation governing onshore wind farm investments.

The proposed changes are expected to boost the growth of Poland's onshore wind energy sector. In particular, the amendments aim to relax existing regulations in a way that could unlock the sector's full potential, significantly increase the country's installed renewable energy capacity, and encourage greater investment in onshore wind projects.

These reforms are seen as a central component of Poland's strategy to meet growing energy demands and accelerate its shift toward a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy system.

Poland's transition to cleaner energy requires large-scale investment in renewable sources to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and limit greenhouse gas emissions. Wind energy plays a critical role in this transformation due to its clean and cost-effective nature. The government has identified onshore wind power as one of the two key technologies driving decarbonisation efforts. Current policy directions confirm that onshore wind energy will remain a pillar of the country's efforts to move toward a low-carbon economy.
