PGE aims to acquire two major energy projects in Poland

Green Forum
PGE and ZE PAK have reached an agreement to establish the terms and conditions for acquiring both a gas and a nuclear project.

PGE plans to purchase 100% of the shares in PAK CCGT, the company developing a gas project at the former coal-fired Adamów Power Plant, and 50% of the shares in PGE PAK Energia Jądrowa, which is responsible for the nuclear project.

“The Polish energy sector requires stable and flexible gas-fired baseload capacity in addition to renewable energy sources,” stated Dariusz Marzec, President of PGE's Management Board. “The opportunity to take over the gas power plant project, which involves building a 560+ megawatt (MW) unit on the site of the former Adamów coal-fired power plant, aligns perfectly with the strategic goals of the PGE Group. This project will help us expand our gas investment portfolio, enhance our generation capacity, and, most importantly, provide reliable and stable energy supplies to Polish households in the near future.”

PGE's management aims to drive the nuclear project forward independently and more efficiently. Mr. Marzec emphasized, “Nuclear energy is crucial for Poland's full energy independence. As the PGE Group, we are taking concrete steps to gain full control over the nuclear project led by PGE PAK Energia Jądrowa. In our view, this will offer us greater flexibility to explore additional locations for the nuclear project in collaboration with government authorities, who define Poland's energy policy in this area.”
