Bistrita-Năsăud County signs financing contract for selective collection of waste

A financing contract worth RON 47.5 million (€9.5 million) was signed to support the selective collection of waste in Bistrița-Năsăud county. The Minister of European Investments and Projects, Adrian Câciu, the president of the Bistrița-Năsăud County Council, Emil Radu Moldovan, and the executive director of ADI for the integrated management of municipal waste in Bistrița-Năsăud county, Cristian Marius Niculae, signed the financing contract for "Waste collection containers for the development and modernization of the Integrated Waste Management System in Bistrita-Năsăud County".

The contract has a total value of approximately RON 47.5 million (€9.5 million), of which approximately RON 27 million (€5.4 million) represents European funds from the Large Infrastructure Operational Program.

"We are happy to sign today an important project for us, a project that will support the increase in the preparation rate for reuse and recycling of waste and will significantly contribute to reaching the target of reuse and recycling of 50% of the amount of recyclable waste (paper, metal, plastic, glass, and textiles) until 2025, from the level of the entire county. We found a lot of openness at MIPE and want to continue the good collaboration between local and central authorities", emphasized Emil Radu Moldovan, president of the Bistrița-Năsăud County Council.

For his part, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Adrian Câciu, congratulated the Bistrita-Năsăud County Council and all the administrative-territorial units that have partnered for the realization of this project that will contribute to improving environmental conditions and increasing the quality of life of the inhabitants of County.

"We are counting on the efforts of each beneficiary in the implementation of the projects, especially now, when we are approaching the end of the multiannual financial year 2014-2020. I remind you that expenses incurred until the end of this year can be settled from the allocated amount, and Romania must maximize the absorption rate of European funds", said Minister Adrian Câciu.
