R.Power secures €12.4 million for Romanian solar projects

R.Power Group, one of Europe's leading renewable energy companies, has secured a €12.4 million project finance agreement with Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (the Polish National Development Bank).

These funds will support the construction of R.Power Group's first photovoltaic power plants in Romania, with a combined capacity of 23 MWp.

This marks the second international project finance agreement for R.Power, following previous financing obtained for its projects in Portugal.

“This financing enables our rapid expansion in the Romanian market, reinforcing our international growth strategy. Romania is a key market, and launching our first photovoltaic plants here significantly strengthens our position as a leading green energy producer in Europe,” said Tomasz Sęk, Vice President of R.Power.

“Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego supports Polish companies in their international growth ambitions, promoting the internationalization of Polish capital. The long-term investment loan is part of our commitment to sustainable investment projects. We are pleased that these funds will boost renewable energy's share in Romania's energy mix, indirectly benefiting the entire European Union,” commented Piotr Kuffel, Director of International Expansion at Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.

Besides large-scale photovoltaic energy projects, R.Power is also developing energy storage initiatives in Romania. In December 2024, subsidiaries of the group signed an agreement with Romania's Ministry of Energy for a non-reimbursable grant of approximately €15 million. These funds will finance the construction of an energy storage system with a capacity of 127 MW and 254 MWh—the first investment of its kind by R.Power Group in Romania.
