Amazon expands renewable energy in Poland

Green Forum
Amazon Poland announced that the first of its four solar and wind projects, with a combined capacity of 140 MW, has begun generating electricity.

The operational facility is an 87-MW photovoltaic (PV) farm located in Miłkowice, in the southwestern Lower Silesia province. In 2022, Amazon secured one of Poland's largest renewable energy purchase agreements for this project, the company previously stated.

According to Amazon's regional director, Sławomir Płonka, the launch of the Miłkowice solar farm represents a significant step in the company's commitment to sustainable operations in Poland. Amazon emphasized its involvement in initiatives that not only compensate for the energy consumption of its data centers and facilities but also support the country's broader energy transition.

Additionally, in May 2024, Amazon signed an agreement to procure 53 MW of power from two wind farms in Poland, operated by Vortex Energy. These facilities are located in Jastrowie and Okonek, in the central Wielkopolskie province.

The fourth project consists of a rooftop PV installation at Amazon's robotic logistics center in Świebodzin, situated in the western Lubusz province.
