WALDEVAR and Prime Batteries support Romania's energy system

Green Forum
Two companies with strategic roles in Romania's energy ecosystem – WALDEVAR Energy and Prime Batteries – are contributing to the development of the “Da Vinci New Project,” a large-scale photovoltaic park located in Nanov, Teleorman County, owned by Alive Capital.

Installed on a 247,000-square-meter plot of land, the park will have a total capacity of 26.002 MWp, of which 23 MWp are financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) – Component C6: Energy, and the remaining 3 MWp through the developer's own resources. The system includes 44,448 photovoltaic panels supported by 78 inverters.

What sets this project apart is the integration of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with an installed power of 5 MW and a total capacity of 10 MWh, supplied by Prime Batteries. This component provides operational flexibility and grid balancing capabilities, contributing to the stability of energy flows.

“We started 2025 with the energy of the future and are continuing with emblematic results for Romania. We've surpassed 1.5 GW of installed capacity through our own projects alone and have just returned from Intersolar, the largest industry fair, where we reaffirmed our strategic alignment with a greener future. Today, we are marking a truly special moment alongside Prime Batteries, as we develop the Da Vinci New Project for Alive Capital – partners who challenge us to aim for excellence. This is more than just a step forward – it's a firm commitment to energy security and to a perfectly balanced energy system.”
– Cristian Dragomir, CEO of WALDEVAR Energy

“The installation of a storage system in the Nanov photovoltaic plant is a natural step toward a more flexible and sustainable future. We are pleased that two renowned Romanian companies, Waldevar Energy and Prime Batteries, have established a partnership that contributes to Romania's energy strategy. Together, we are building solutions that bring stability and flexibility to the national energy system, and we are proud to be part of this transformation”, said Giacomo Billi, Founder & CEO of Alive Capital.

“Our participation in this project marks the beginning of our collaboration with Alive Capital, which is a source of great satisfaction for us, given the company's expertise and experience in the local energy market. The partnership with WALDEVAR Energy is a natural step in our strategy to develop as many projects as possible in Romania, together with Romanians. We appreciate the opportunity to be part of yet another strategically important project for Romania”, said Vicențiu Ciobanu, CEO of Prime Batteries.

According to technical estimates, the “Da Vinci New Project” will generate approximately 35,022 MWh annually – equivalent to the consumption of around 14,590 households. Carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 88,310 tons per year, and the equivalent primary energy production is estimated at 3,057.82 toe (tonnes of oil equivalent). This partnership reflects a pragmatic approach to modern energy infrastructure development, combining WALDEVAR Energy's expertise in execution and development, Alive Capital's capacity to manage energy assets, and the advanced storage technology provided by Prime Batteries.
