RenewAcad plans €10million green energy factory in Romania

Green Forum
RenewAcad, a certified renewable energy training center operated by Wind Power Energy, launched a new project on March 5 in Petrila, Hunedoara County, for an assembly plant dedicated to manufacturing components for the renewable energy sector.

The project, backed by an estimated €10 million investment, will be financed through the EU's Just Transition Program, as it is being developed in a former coal-mining region affected by decarbonization policies.

The facility will create over 50 jobs, supporting the socio-economic transition of the Jiu Valley, a region undergoing significant economic transformation. It will be built on the former industrial site of the Petrila coal mine and will manufacture components for energy storage batteries, robotic cleaners for photovoltaic panels, and environmental monitoring equipment.

"Our goal is for this factory to become the foundation of a broader industrial ecosystem. As part of this vision, we plan to develop a 20MWh energy storage battery near the factory, using components produced locally," said Sebastian Enache, Managing Partner of Wind Power Energy, at the launch event.

RenewAcad is the leading brand under which Wind Power Energy has developed Romania's largest network of renewable energy training centers. The network currently operates four locations in Constanța, Bucharest, Petroșani, and Rovinari.
