WALDEVAR has firmly positioned itself as a European leader in the renewable energy sector. The company recently announced that it has exceeded 1.5 GW of installed photovoltaic capacity—a major milestone that reflects its rapid expansion and commitment to sustainable energy development.
From its beginnings as a local energy contractor, WALDEVAR has grown into one of Europe's leading general contractors for engineering, automation, SCADA, and construction-assembly services dedicated to energy generation, transmission, and distribution. With more than 999 employees, five international offices, and the largest fleet of machinery and equipment in Romania, the company now provides fully integrated 360° solutions, covering electrical, mechanical, and civil design, as well as command-control and protection systems for electrical substations.
The company's momentum has been unmistakable. In 2024 alone, WALDEVAR reported a 135% increase in revenue compared to the previous year. This growth was powered by the development of over 29 energy assets—ranging between 5 and 130 MW—and a construction rate of 2.5 MW installed per day, underscoring WALDEVAR's ability to scale efficiently.
But WALDEVAR's ambitions go far beyond megawatt milestones. The company is strategically expanding into frontier areas of renewable energy through its specialized divisions in EPC, O&M, SCADA, BESS, and floating photovoltaics (FPV). A centerpiece of this expansion is the construction of Europe's largest manufacturing facility for floating PV systems. Developed in partnership with global leader Sungrow FPV, the new industrial hub in Tunari, Romania, will span nearly 40,000 square meters and involve a capital investment of approximately €10 million.
Scheduled to open in early 2026, the facility is set to become a regional center of excellence in floating solar technologies, supporting both inland and “inshore” projects—including marine photovoltaic parks in protected zones such as the Maldives. With its EMEA-wide market coverage and specialized focus, the plant positions WALDEVAR at the forefront of innovation in water-based renewable energy solutions.
