The project "Hoceni - Dimitrie Cantemir Wind Farm," to be located on the outskirts of the Hoceni and Dimitrie Cantemir communes in Vaslui County, received environmental clearance this week from the Vaslui Environmental Protection Agency. This represents a preliminary stage preceding the establishment of conditions and measures for environmental protection that must be complied with for the project's realization.

The project entails a wind farm consisting of 31 Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-170 wind turbines, each with a power capacity of 6.6 MW, a maximum tower height of 155 meters, a rotor diameter of 170 meters, and a maximum construction height of 240 meters. The total power capacity of the wind farm is 6.6 MW/h x 31 turbines, totaling 204.6 MW/h.

Initially, the wind farm consisted of 33 turbines, but turbines T16 and T17 were removed from the park due to land availability issues. Internal underground medium voltage (33 kV) and high voltage (110 kV) power lines, as well as the 2 x 33/110 kV and 1 x 110/220 kV transformation stations, are not currently included in the project.

These investments will be included in a separate project, based on a new urban planning certificate, after the technical details are known.

Currently, nine other wind projects in Vaslui County are undergoing environmental impact assessment procedures, aimed at harnessing the wind potential of the Moldavian Plateau with beneficial effects on environmental factors by replacing electricity produced in thermal power plants.
